Inbox

Every eCASE user has a personal inbox. When you log in to eCASE, you can view your inbox from the eCASE Home Page. The Inbox displays the Tasks, FYI Copies, and Notifications sent to you.

Tasks are electronic assignments that are part of a workflow, and notifications are messages sent to a user after an event has occurred. When you receive a task, you can open the task to see the instructions and attached files. You can choose whether to accept the task, and if accepted you can work on any attached files, add or remove files, and add or edit comments. When you have completed the assigned activity, you must advance the task to the next activity in the workflow.

Accessing Your Inbox

When you sign in to eCASE, you can view your inbox from the eCASE Home Page in two locations as shown below.

  1. Dashboard Inbox: All current inbox items are listed and accessible at the center of the Home Page dashboard (if your dashboard is configured to include the Inbox) 

  2. Inbox: The full-featured Inbox includes the list of Inbox items with actions and configurable view settings. To access this Inbox, click Inbox from the Launch Pad.

My Inbox

While Widgets and Dashboards provide easy access to current Inbox items, additional actions and configurations are available from your Inbox screen, accessed from the Launch Pad. To access your Inbox, click Inbox from the Launch Pad. The Inbox screen appears as shown in the following example:

 

From the Inbox screen, you can double-click any entry in the list to navigate directly to that folder. You can sort the Inbox folders by clicking a column head. More detailed action are described in the following subsections.

Toolbar

Your Inbox includes a toolbar with various options and actions for working in the Inbox:

You can select items from your inbox, then take one of the actions available from the Inbox toolbar:

Select an action to take on a Case: Available actions are Open Folder, Permissions, Add to Monitor List, Report, Logs, FYI Copy, and Delete.

Logs

View Logs related to this case. Options include Action History, Delivery Log, Email Log, and Journal Entry

Create View

Customize an Inbox view, selecting columns, column ordering, and column sorting to tailor views to specific needs.

Select View

Select from a list of pre-created Inbox views.

Group By

Select from a list of columns in the current Inbox view to group all Inbox items according to that column's value.

Filter

Use the column selection list and text fields to filter your Inbox view to show only matching results.

 

Actions Menu

From the eCASE Inbox, users can perform the following actions on folders in their inbox by selecting the folder and clicking the Actions drop down menu:

 

The available actions are described in the table below:

Action

Description

Open Case

Open the selected case.

Permissions

View and edit permissions on the selected case. This option is enabled when a user has access permissions on the case.

Add to Monitor List

Create a link on the dashboard Monitor List that navigates the user to the case associated with the task.

Report

View a folder details report (the user must have permissions to view this report.)

FYI Copy

Allows users to create an informational copy of the tasks in the folder.

Delete

Delete the selected item.

 

Logs

Logs allow you to view logs of actions taken on an Inbox case:

Select a case from the Inbox, then use the Logs option to view an associated log file:

 

Create View

Users can customize the columns and ordering of information in the Inbox to view the data they need quickly and easily. For steps to create a custom Inbox view, see Custom Views.
